Bhubaneswar: Voting for the presidential election in the state assembly began on Monday. Voting begins at the Delhi Parliament House and the state assembly. BJP MLA Mukesh Mahalinga first voted in the Assembly. Then other legislators are asserting their right to vote. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also voted.

Voting is set to take place from 10 am to 5 pm on Monday, with only Odisha legislators voting in the Assembly. Opposition leader Pradeep Kumar Naik is in Delhi due to illness and will be able to cast his ballots at the hospital. Similarly, all Odisha MPs will vote in Delhi.

The BJD has directed all MPs and legislators to vote for NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, while Rayagada’s independent MLA Makaranda Muduli has been asked to vote for Draupadi. BJP MPs and legislators will vote for Draupadi. But Congress MPs and legislators have announced they will vote for presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha. The party has also cast a vote in favor of the BJP MLAs.
