Last year, a cake from Charles and Diana’s wedding sold for $2,000
A piece of the cake preserved from that time was auctioned almost 40 years later
New Delhi: Last year, a royal devotee auctioned a wedding cake of Prince Charles and Princess Diana for £1,850 or $2,565.
It is worth noting that on July 29, 1981, Yuvraj Charles married Lady Diana Spencer. Some companies provided over 20 ‘wedding cakes’ for their weddings. After 11 years of marriage, Charles and Diana separated in 1992, and Diana was finally divorced in 1996.
After that Diana died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.
A piece of the cake preserved from that time was auctioned almost 40 years later.
At that time, the cake fell into the hands of a royal servant named Moya Smith. On July 29, 1981, he kept the said piece of cake. The ‘icing’ on the cake featured a design of gold, red, blue and ruby on the sleeves (arms) of the royal coat.
How many times did ‘Gerry Layton’ buy this piece of cake at a fixed price of £300 to £500?
He said, I thought I would keep this cake in my estate. After my death it will be auctioned for charity.
