As part of China's strategy to maintain pressure on the border, the ITBP needs additional battalions on the Arunachal border.
New Delhi, 24/08: As part of China’s strategy to maintain pressure on the border, the ITBP needs additional battalions on the Arunachal border. But approval for the additional battalion is delayed as the proposal is pending at higher levels. The proposal of seven battalions and one sector headquarters was sent to the government by the security forces long ago. About 90 percent of this requirement is for Arunachal, while some of the requirements are for the Uttarakhand border, it is said.
Please note that the final decision has not been taken yet. Special sources have informed that this is being considered at the highest level. But pressure is on to complete it quickly. Defense experts said that too much delay would affect the security strategy. After the Galwan Valley incident, the ITBP is reviewing its security preparations and strengthening them.
In view of the proposed formation of 47 new BPOs on the border, there is a need for a new battalion. If the proposal is approved, ITBP will have about ten thousand additional personnel. It is said that it will be especially helpful in monitoring the Chinese border.
