New Delhi: When the whole world was celebrating the year 2023, violent explosions continued in Ukraine. On the one hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a New Year’s message, while on the other hand, violent attacks took place in other major cities, including the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.
The attack that started on Saturday afternoon has continued on the first day of this year and the Russian attack has spread to all areas. More than 25 urban areas have been hit by missiles, drones and mortars. In other countries of the world, the New Year is welcomed by decorated garlands and bows, while in Ukraine, the New Year is welcomed inside the missile launcher. Russia shot down more than 20 cruise missiles in Ukraine on Saturday and carried out drone strikes in more than 50 locations this morning.
Russia stepped up its attacks after Ukrainian President Zelenskyy delivered a New Year’s Eve address. “We are fighting and we will continue to fight for victory,” Zelenskyy said.
Area affected in Ukraine
Notably, Russia fired more than 120 missiles at Kyiv, Kharkiv and Lviv in Ukraine on Thursday. As the winter progresses, Russia continues to target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. President Vladimir Putin, on the other hand, told his citizens in his traditional New Year’s address that moral and historical integrity is on our side. Russia is taking the right decision by plotting the conspiracies of the western countries and the big conspiracy to bring Russia down.
